You need to complete an application for each load of asbestos you wish to dispose of, and submit it to council no later than 48 hours before the date you are planning to dispose of the asbestos. An asbestos disposal guideline is included with the application form.

All asbestos waste, unless it is domestic waste, is required to be accompanied by a regulated waste tracking certificate.
Loads of asbestos waste greater than 250 kilograms, which is not considered domestic waste, must also be transported by a licensed regulated waste transporter. These requirements are legislated by the State Government, more information is available on the Department of Environment and Science website.

Please note: Asbestos removal is extremely hazardous and council strongly recommends that do-it-yourself renovators use a licensed operator to carry out the removal to avoid long-term health risks to themselves or future occupants.
