The Sunshine Coast Community Strategy 2019-2041 provides a long-term plan for how council and our community will work together to achieve a strong community. The strategy has incorporated a range of former community action plans into the one document including the Youth Action Plan 2018-2021.

The strategy embraces all sectors of the community including young people and seeks to improve our connection with young people through improved communication and opportunities for involvement in the community.

Sunshine Coast Youth Council

The Sunshine Coast Youth Council will foster young people’s skills in decision-making processes, communication and program development skills. It will also provide a better understanding of the roles and functions of local government, provide a platform to highlight issues, exchange ideas interact and learn from Sunshine Coast civic leaders. It will also be a great opportunity to meet new people! Young people keen to make a difference in the Sunshine Coast community while representing their peers are encouraged to apply for the two-year program.

Applications are now open for 15-24 year old's to be part of this exciting new era in local government on the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Youth Council meetings will be scheduled monthly. Each meeting will be held for approximately 1.5 hours (4.30-6pm). Outside of meeting times, professional and personal development sessions will also be an expectation for member attendance.
