Try a new sport or look for a different way of returning to traditional sports.

CHOOSE TO MOVE!

Find sport and recreation clubs that offer great options for people wanting to remain active thorough sport and ideal if you are returning to exercise after a break.

There are plenty of activities for busy people looking for something new especially people unable to commit to playing competition sport - or for retirees seeking to return to a sport of their youth. Walking sports offer a more moderate or gentle pace of exercise with all the competitiveness and less stress on your body. Pickle Ball and Disc Golf offer fabulous alternatives.

These activities, run by local organisations, are great for building local connections. Connect with the clubs to find out how you can participate.

Disc Golf is growing in popularity everywhere and is sometimes referred to a frisbee golf or 'frolf'. It's like traditional golf but instead of clubs, balls and holes you use concave plastic discs and basket-like targets. The goal is to get your disc from the tee area to the target in as few throws as possible.

On the Sunshine Coast, the Sunshine Coast Disc Golf association operates from its new home at Meridan Downs, Little Mountain near Caloundra.

Walking Football is low-impact, team based exercise specifically non-contact with players and always having one foot on the ground.  There are defined Walking Football Rules and Formats and matches are played with modified formats so everyone can enjoy playing. The game focusses on passing rather than speed and running and is played on smaller pitches with shortened game times.

Run by Baringa Football Club, this affordable sport aims to promote health, wellbeing and the social benefits of regular football especially for older people.
