Beach safety

Stay safe on the beach! Before swimming in the ocean, take the time to learn the simple rules of beach safety.

Beach safety

Sunshine Coast beaches are beautiful and can be unpredictable. You can view patrol times (lifeguard hours) and locations at the Beachsafe website. Patrolled times will vary depending on each season and beach. Lifeguard services are provided by Surf Life Saving Queensland and proudly funded by Sunshine Coast Council.

For your own safety:

It is important to know how to protect yourself in the water and understand the warning signs and flags, to ensure you remember your trip to the beach for all the right reasons.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share.
We commit to working in partnership with the Traditional Custodians and the broader First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) community to support self-determination through economic and community development.
