Councillor profiles
The Sunshine Coast Council region is made up of 10 divisions. People in each division elect a councillor to represent their area. All residents vote to elect the mayor who represents the entire Sunshine Coast.

Remuneration
Remuneration for the mayor, deputy mayor and councillors is determined by the Local Government Remuneration and Discipline Tribunal.
Portfolio system
There are six portfolios. They reflect areas of strategic importance to council and the people of the Sunshine Coast.
Council elections
Council elections are held every 4 years. The last elections were held on 28 March 2020.
