Cr Law - Boost for Eumundi Placemaking
  • Wednesday 25 August 2021

In welcome news for our community, Eumundi’s Memorial Drive will receive a major cash injection including $500,000 to deliver streetscape improvements thanks to the Queensland Government’s $100 million South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program. This now brings the total project funds to $1.77 million, including Council’s $1.27 million capital works contribution.

This announcement is very exciting, as council has been working with the community, local businesses, and organisations to find out their values and vision for the main street.

The streetscape project is about enhancing those aspects locals already love about Eumundi’s main street and the additional funds will allow us to achieve terrific streetscape outcomes for the community.

In May, council’s placemaking team ran a community design workshop with the Eumundi community to gain further feedback and ideas for the streetscape design for Memorial Drive. This was in addition to engagement they undertook at the end of 2020.

The team has also undertaken a town centre business online survey to gain input into ideas for parking and outdoor dining. All input and feedback will inform development of the draft streetscape design which is underway.

The draft streetscape concept design will be presented to the community later this year and the project is on track to start construction in May 2022.
