Council services and facilities 

Access to the majority of council services and facilities will be affected due to the restrictions in place.

Council's customer service centres are open for business, operating with Covid restrictions.

Holiday parks remain open to existing guests only and are operating in accordance with Queensland Health directions.

Waste services and facilities

Council’s waste facilities have resumed with restrictions in place, in line with Queensland Health directives. 

Council kerbside waste services, such as household rubbish collection, will continue as usual.

Online forms
Complete an online form to request a service, request a bin repair or replacement, change your address, change animal registration details, provide feedback or request general information.
Register with  MyCouncil to view property details, rates notices, animal details, submit online requests, update details and make payments. Businesses can also register to get access to a business dashboard showing their property and applications.

Council venues and community spaces


Current status

Council Libraries Open with restrictions. For more information visit Libraries website.
Sunshine Coast Animal Pound Closed to general public. Enquiries on 07 5439 8000 for animal collections and only until 5.00pm. For more information visit the Animal Pound website.
Cemetery Services Services available via or phone 07 5459 2300. The Kulangoor Cemetery office is closed to visitors. For more information visit the Cemetery Service website.

Aquatic centres and community pools

Council's nine aquatic centres are open with restrictions. This includes Beerwah, Buderim, Caloundra, Coolum-Peregian, Cotton Tree, Eumundi, Kawana, Nambour and Palmwoods.

All patrons are required to check in Qld Covid App before entering the pool.

COVID Safe measures are in place in accordance with the Swimming Pool and Aquatic Centre Industry COVID Safe Plan released by the Queensland Government.

Kings Beach Ocean Pool is closed. Note: This facility is not supervised during winter. Please observe all signage on site.

Holiday parks

Holiday parks are open to existing guests only and are operating in accordance with Queensland Health directions.

All beaches are open.

If you are visiting the beach, ensure you are observing physical distancing guidelines. Please read the blackboards and signage at beach access points and speak with a lifeguard before going into the water. All beach carparks are open. Boat ramps and pontoons are also open.

Council parks

Skate parks, barbeques, playgrounds and exercise equipment are open with restricitions.

Personal training/bootcamps

Cancelled due to lockdown.


  • Gardners Falls in Maleny and the access road/carpark in Obi Lane is open.
  • Buderim Forest Park swimming hole is open.

Please avoid large gatherings and respect the one person per four square metre rule and social distancing requirements.

National parks

All national park and forest day use areas and walking tracks are open with the exception of some popular rock pool destinations. For details about Queensland Government national parks, conservation parks, resource reserves, state forests and recreation areas visit the Queensland Parks website.

Recycle markets and rubbish tips

Council’s waste facilities, including the retails markets have resumed normal operations under Queensland Health directives. All usual fees and charges apply. Cashless transactions are preferred. 


Events across the Sunshine Coast have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic including events which have mass gatherings. With CovidSafe requirements in place, council will continue to follow the advice of Queensland Health for its own events following COVID Safe Events guidelines.

From kids activities, adult workshops, artist interviews and panel discussions the Gallery website provides online events to feed your creativity.


At times like this, it’s essential we support one another and show compassion to those who need it, neighbour to neighbour, street to street. Council's At Home in my Neighbourhood program provides our community with valuable resources to help you connect with your neighbours during these challenging times.

B-Well & Prosper

The B-Well & Prosper program offers access to business and well-being resources to small business owners and their employees.

Our Community Development team have put together a range of COVID-19 information and support for the whole community:

  • Community groups
  • Individuals and families including Domestic and family violence
  • Children and home education
  • Housing, food and financial support including homelessness and tenancy
  • Multicultural services and support
  • First Nations services and support
  • International students
  • Business support

Event permits

Events on council-controlled land will be assessed in accordance with the current restrictions and some events may require a COVIDSafe Plan.

Non-council events

Event organisers must follow the recommendations from the Australian Government and Queensland Health  visit COVID Safe Events for the latest information. Ticket holders should contact event organisers directly for any queries related to non-council organised events.

Federal, state and local governments are all providing support for small businesses who are affected by novel coronavirus. Business owners can find business support information about available options.

Professional advice support program 

Council has spoken to many businesses that have reported confusion, anxiety and uncertainty surrounding their business due to:

  • overload of information
  • multiple economic stimulus packages
  • increasing business and social distancing restrictions.

As a result, council has put together a Professional Advice Support Program.

Council's Sport and Recreation team has put together a range of information and resources for community sporting club and the active recreation industry. This will assist clubs and volunteers stay well informed about the Queensland Government's easing of COVID-19 restrictions for sport, recreation and fitness activities and a Return to Play. Clubs and volunteers should also seek guidance from their respective code or association Return to Play guidelines.Visit Sport & Recreation Covid-19 support page.

Council grants and funding programs support community groups with projects for community benefit.  While COVID-19 remains a declared disaster, Emergency Grants can help with COVID-19 related costs, including projects which address the impacts of COVID-19 on the community.  Other grant opportunities include:

In 2020, council allocated COVID-19 Community Response Grants. This program is now closed.

We are assisting ratepayers having financial difficulties with flexible payment arrangements for outstanding rates. Please contact council if you are having difficulty paying your rates by email to We are here to help you.

Parking meters in Caloundra and Birtinya

Parking meters in Caloundra and Birtinya returned to normal operation on Wednesday 1 July, after more than two months of free parking. Council is responsible for managing only 2% of the parking in the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct. Metered on-street parking is available along Eccles Blvd, Bright Pl, Shine Ct and Birtinya Blvd.

Motorists are encouraged to make a cashless payment using credit or debit cards or the EasyPark app

Council also provides free on-street and off-street parking throughout Caloundra.
